DuPont Crop Protection is seeking motivated, capable summer interns to join its Global Discovery Plant Disease Control team. The successful candidate will learn many aspects of plant pathology and the fungicide screening process, such as test set-up, formulation and spraying of experimental compounds, inoculation, rating, computer data entry and analysis, and quality assessment. Interns will participate in weekly screening work in addition to carrying out 1-2 independent research projects focused on quality improvement of our whole plant, disease assays or equipment utilized in the screening operation.
The focus of the work will be research related to the discovery of compounds with fungicidal activity.
Job Duties May include:
- Field, growth chamber and greenhouse plant production and propagation as necessary to support research efforts.
- Plant pathogen culture, storage and inoculum preparation using aseptic techniques as necessary to support research projects.
- Application of experimental chemicals and disease evaluation of treated test units.
- Experimental design, data collection, analysis and report generation using a variety of software programs.
