Digital Agriculture Approaches for Determining Soybean Yield Potentials in New York

Yield monitor data are being used for identifying yield limitations, evaluation of alternative management practices, conducting on farm research, assessing nutrient balances and efficiencies, determining yield potentials of soil types and fields, and creating farm specific field-based management zones.

What you will do:

  • Obtain yield monitor generated soybean yield data from farms in New York
  •  Generate farm, field, and soil type specific yield reports for farmers
  • Clean yield data of errors using a standardized data cleaning protocol
  • Combine data across farms to develop a soil type based yield potential database
  • Evauate results of on-farm trials with yield data collected with yield monitors
  • Determine significance of findings of on-farm trials for individual farms
  • Connect with stakeholders to review results and determine next steps
  • Learn about precision agriculture technology, data processing and mapping
